Communiqué re RIPS Update; IMCA Class Rules adopted by Japan; Correction re Fleet 3 Hiking variance; skiing in Mammoth, California

Issued February 16 2009

Dear fellow racer:

RIPS Update:

12 M242's have now registered for the RIPS Regatta August 15-19, of which 3 are from Sylvan Lake in Alberta, 2 from Vancouver, and the rest from the Island. There are only 4 slots left in this popular 45 boat (maximum) regatta. See this link here for more info on the regatta and attendees.

IMCA Rules Update:

Tatsuki Senoo of the Japanese M242 Fleet 5 has advised that they will accept the IMCA Rules in effect January 1st.

Correction to the Feb 1 notice: Fleet Three (California) has advised that they do actually have one variance to the IMCA Rules with regard to Hiking. Specifically, their existing Hiking Rule will remain in effect, whereby competitors must hike no further than perpendicular to the horizon.
